October/November President’s Message

Hello REFORMA Tucson Chapter,

On behalf of REFORMA Tucson I would like to congratulate Jessica, Adriana, & Jeff for being the recipient of leaderships awards! Thank you for all your contributions to our chapter and in the community.

*Congratulations to Jeff Cruz! He has been selected as an ARL 2009-2011 Diversity Scholar!

*Congratulations to Jessica Hernandez! She has been named a 2010 ALA Emerging Leader!

*Congratulations to Adriana Rendon! In December she will be awarded with the 2009 AzLA Emerging Leader Award from the Arizona Library Association!

Our percentage night at El Charro to raise funds for library student scholarships was a success & lots of fun!!!

We raised $472 on raffle tickets and we will get 20% of funds from the dinner which is $150. Our combined efforts raised $622! Thank you all for your help, contributing raffle items, selling tickets, attending, & spreading the word! Congratulations!

Kassy Rodeheaver from the UA won the Great Waves certificate for a haircut
Alexandra Caster from KR/SIRLS won the $50 gift card to Target
Rita Olsen (Margie Farmer’s daughter) won the Nuestras Raices Basket
Sandy Littletree from KR/SIRLS won the ticket package for PCC Theatre - West Campus
Concha (Jeff’s grandmother) won the Spa & Wellness basket
Myself, Elizabeth won the certificate from Great Waves for a mani/pedi

* Arizona Public Media received a First Book grant and would like to donate books to REFORMA.

Is anyone interested in attending ‘A Tucson Pastorela’ presented by Borderlands Theatre as a group? It will be presented during December 17-20, 2009, at the Leo Rich Theatre, 260 S Church.
