December President’s Message

Hello REFORMA Tucson,

We have two candidates running for Chapter Vice President: Jeffery Cruz & Jessica Hernandez! This is special election that will be conducted through SurveyMonkey, the deadline to vote is Thursday, December 10th by 5pm.

We are forming a Scholarship Committee for the Tucson Chapter. The committee will be responsible for scholarship applications, selecting recipients, and working with members from the fundraising committee to raise scholarship funds. If you are interested in participating on this committee, please email Elizabeth Soltero.

Please review the attached Funding Criteria for our chapter. Please send me your thoughts, questions, & edits and I will share them at next meeting. The funding criteria will be voted on in January.

Other Announcements:

Liberty Partnership’s Book Drive – LP is collecting new or gently used books for students and their families of the Southside community. They will distribute these books to families in an effort to raise awareness on the importance of READING! Bring your donated books to our next chapter meeting. LP’s book drive will end December 18th! Click here for more info!

Is anyone interested in attending ‘A Tucson Pastorela’ presented by Borderlands Theatre as a group? It will be presented during December 17-20, 2009, at the Leo Rich Theatre, 260 S Church.

Roberto “Dr. Cintli” Rodriguez, his Estudiantes, and the University of Arizona’s Mexican American & Raza Studies Department have worked diligently to bring our community together to affirm nuestra Cultura, listen to the precious stories of our Elders, and celebrate our humanity through various formas.
