The REFORMA-Tucson LiSLaS Conference: Entre bibliotecas y comunidades

REFORMA-Tucson and Knowlege River (University of Arizona-School of Information Resources and Library Science) are proud to present:
A Conference focused on Library Services for Latinos and the Spanish-speaking

Regular Registration Fee: $25 | UA Student Registration + Dinner Fee: $15*

*We will waive the Registration Fee for any UA Student (with a valid CatCard) who registers for the Fundraising Dinner for $15.
Mark A. Puente, Director of Diversity Programs, Association of Research Libraries
UA-SIRLS & Knowledge River AlumnusMark A. Puente is a 2004 graduate of the University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science (Knowledge River Program) and a 2003 Spectrum Scholar. Since March of 2009 he has served as the Director of Diversity Programs at the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). Previously he served as the Coordinator of Digital Projects and Special/Gift Collections for the Music Library at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His library career includes experience at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, the University of Arizona Fine-Arts Library, and the University of North Texas Music Library. Mark has been active in professional organizations on local, regional, and national levels. He has served on panels and maintains research interests in a wide range of topics including diversity in academic libraries, LIS education, library leadership, and networking within the profession. He is an active member of the American Library Association, the Music Library Association, and the Association of Recorded Sound Collections.
Workshops and panels will focus on:
- Outreach and Marketing
- Early Childhood Literacy
- Youth and Adult Literacies
- Library-Community Partnerships
Presenters come from the Pima County Public Library, the Yuma County Public Library, the University of Arizona Libraries, the Pima Community College Libraries, Literacy Volunteers of Tucson, the Arizona Health Sciences Library, the Dr. Fernando Escalante Community Library and Resource Center and the Tucson Unified School District.
Profits from the Conference will go to the REFORMA-Tucson Scholarship Fund to help SIRLS graduate students continue their library education.
